Burberry’s history of exploration was given a modern twist for their AW20 campaign titled ‘Memories’. With Art Direction led by Chief Creative Officer Riccardo Tisci, his ever imaginative storytelling consisted of a picturesque landscape on a winding mountain road, and to our surprise, a truck as the stage, runway and studio.
Only Burberry could make sitting on the back of a truck look so chic. The film gives us a direct route in to escapism and wonderment, something we’re all craving right now as our lockdown restrictions linger.
AF’s Sacha William’s notes, “The moving truck as a platform for the models is an innovative image I’ve not seen before.” And the Burberry clad trucker is a clever addition to the narrative that adds an extra element of fashion fun.
The collaboration between Director Eli Russell Linnetz and Photographer Danko Steiner alongside a brilliant artistic team provides a bold, beautiful and oh so Burberry visual series.
The signature colour palette has been reworked for this modern collection merging classic prints alongside Tisci’s fresh and future thinking vision of the brand. At accessFashion we’ve already added the Mini Leather Olympia Bag to our Lust Have list for Christmas. The iconic trench is on our list all year round. And I don’t think we’ll ever tire of the Pocket bag.
‘This campaign is all about memories and reflections. The collection was inspired by escape and freedom. Recently, I have really reflected upon my memories and of being at one with nature again – a dreamlike journey of another time, another place. Set in an ambiguous location, you could be anywhere – like in a dream you have the freedom to make your journey what you want.” Riccardo Tisci, Chief Creative Officer
Burberry never fail to deliver when it comes to storytelling and the ‘Memories’ campaign does not disappoint. We’re ready to hitch a ride on the Burberry truck, just as soon as they restock those vintage check masks.
