When the famous fly on the wall documentary “The September Issue” was released, giving us an insight in to the inner workings of Anna Wintour and Stylist Grace Coddington – the fashion magazines held the power and weight. With rise of social media and the influencer there’s definitely competition. Once our Instagram feeds start to be filled with camel coats and thick roll neck jumpers, many of us will be swiping up and shopping clickable links – but if you’re an avid lover of print (over at AF we most certainly are) – the pulling power of the print fashion magazine still reigns supreme for its teams, creativity and flair…
The change of the September Issue in 2020
2020’s September covers are different to those we’ve previously seen. The impact of George Floyd’s death has impacted the fashion industry hugely, raising issues of the lack of diversity and highlighting the huge inequalities people of colour suffer from in the business…
The majority of covers for this month feature black talent and change makers from faces such as Rihanna, Zendaya and Travis Scott. Edward Enninful and British Vogue stood out again for their powerful September cover – a pull out cover of 20 images from Marcus Rashford, Clara Amfo to Jessie Williams. Edward Enninful is making sure he changes British Vogue for the better and he’s doing it in a big way.
