Have you ever had a bath or sipped cocktails with Lions? And in England? I was lucky enough to get to stay at Lion Lodge, Port Lympne Hotel and Reserve, and it was an once in a lifetime experience that I’ll never forget. The last time I had so many DMs is when we got engaged!
Upon arrival we were taken to the Lodge via golf buggies and one that we got to keep throughout the stay to get ourselves around the grounds. We checked in to the room and were blown away by the design and decor. We knew the experience was going to be incredible but we never anticipated how luxurious and well thought out the Lodge would be too.
Spotting the Lions in the living room window was just wow. We hadn’t even unpacked as we found ourselves sitting on the floor watching and often interacting with the five stunning Lions.
The outdoor bathtub was an amazing surprise and again so befitting of the design of the Lodge. A naturally heated log fired bath tub (it takes two hours to heat up) – Port Lympe really are focusing on offering luxurious yet sustainable stays.
Our dining reservations were originally booked for the Main Restaurant which was closed due to Covid-19 amendments so we opted for the Italian Restaurant as we knew we’d be having breakfast in the stunning new The Garden Room. With our package we were allocated a food spend. There was no way that we could reach it so we ordered pizzas and pasta to enjoy in the room later that night…
Back in the room we watched NETFLIX, played games, listened to music and played with the Lions through the glass and in the garden as they roamed around looking for us. It was surreal and magical.
The next morning we were awoken by the Lions and had to drag ourselves away for breakfast. We were then treated to a private safari tour, where we got to see Giraffes up close and even feed Rosie the Rhino. Another incredible experience before checking out – and having the park to explore for the rest of the day.
The Lion Lodge can be booked online and starts at £1700 a night but it’s sold out for the rest of the year. Our stay included a nights accommodation with cocktails, dinner, breakfast, a private Champagne safari tour with lunch vouchers that could be used anywhere. The total amount of the package was £2700.
Please note this was a gifted stay but there was absolutely zero obligation to write or post about it. Also be sure to check for updates via their website as to government guidelines and how they may affect your visit.
